Everyone uses terms that are small enough to fit on a single sheet of paper, but do they all know what they mean and why? C paper sizes are only used to make envelopes. B-sized paper is bigger than A-sized paper, and it is usually used for big projects like posters and folders. They make it possible to print long texts on fewer pages and for less money. Unless a customer specifically asks for a custom size, postcards (A6), flyers (A5), and newsletters (A4) will all be made in a standard size unless the customer asks for a custom size.
