Each hand’s fingers should rest on four different keys. With your left hand, you press the “A” key with your pinky finger, the “S” key with your ring finger, the “D” key with your middle finger, and the “F” key with your index finger.
The A, S, D, and F keys should be pressed with the left hand, and the J, K, L, and ; keys should be pressed with the right hand. These are called the keys in the first row. Keep your thumbs up or put them gently on the spacebar key.
Put the tip of your left index finger on the V key and move it to the 4 key. Your hand should only move in this direction, and your fingers should only hit the keys when your hand is right over them. After using this method, you should notice that your fingers are pressing the keys much more safely and in the middle instead of on the edge. The best part is that if you take your hands off the home row, you’ll use keyboard shortcuts a lot more. In Windows 7, for example, I switch between programs by pressing the right Windows key with my ring finger, followed by keys 1 through 5. It’s awesome:-) Using a mouse would take a lot longer. This only takes a small amount of time. I mostly use the mouse to pick out text (actually a trackpoint).
right index finger, The J key works as the home key for this finger (J). This is used to press the “J” key as well as the “Y,” “U,” “H,” “N,” “M,” and “7” keys.
In any online instructions for typing quickly, only the keys below the function keys are taken into account (image search). No one tells you how to press the function keys with your fingers.
The second figure is a broken chord that only goes up by a fifth. Because of this, it can be played like a scale, but with “gaps” for fingers 2 and 4.
Do you often touch the C note with your thumb, then realize the next note is an E and press the E with your middle finger? Or do you quickly look and press E?
Even though there are standard finger positions for certain scales, you won’t always be playing the scale or key; you may be playing notes in a number of different ways. So, you have to move your hand so that the progression of your fingers stays (more or less) the same but is moved.
