You shouldn’t just put the computer screen right in front of you; you should also think about how you’ll look at it. If you have your computer screen set up wrong for a long time, you could get neck pain or even damage that can’t be fixed.
Your overall comfort and ease of use are affected by where your screen is placed. Where should you put a computer screen? Your screen should ideally be right in front of you, away from anything that could cause glare. Glare can make your eyes tired, but it’s more likely to make you move around to see the screen, which can make your posture wrong.
In the last article, which gave an overview of workstation ergonomics, we talked about the first five steps. Steps 6 and 7 are explained below, which again shows how important it is to have an ergonomic workspace.

The height of your monitor will depend on how high your desk is. Your back, shoulders, arms, and wrists may be put under too much strain depending on how you choose to work.
If you have two screens, you have to choose which one is the main one and which one is the backup. As was already said, the main one should be right in front of you. Place the backup monitor next to your main screen, to the side of your dominant eye, at the same height and distance (source).
When you use it, the top of the screen should be between 50 and 100 cm from your eyes. Your workstation should be at elbow height, and your hands should be able to rest between the keyboard and the edge of the desk. Even if you are working on a laptop, you should use a mouse and keep your workspace well-lit.
The top of your screen should be level with your eyes. Whether you are standing or sitting at your workstation, the space between you and your monitor should be about the length of your arm. When the monitor is in this spot, you can see the whole screen without having to move your head or neck.
What is the best setting for a monitor?
Change the height of the monitor so that the top of the screen is at or just below eye level. When looking at the middle of the screen, you should look a little bit down. Place the monitor at arm’s length or at least 20 inches (51 cm) away from your eyes.
How close to your eyes should your monitor be?
If you are looking at a screen for a long time, you may stop blinking. This can make your eyes feel dry and uncomfortable. Set your computer screen so that your eyes are 16 to 30 inches (40 to 76 centimeters) from it. Your eyes are either at the top or just a little bit below it.

If the monitor is set too high, what will happen?
A display that is too far away from the workstation can be annoying and, over time, can lead to neck and shoulder problems. When the desk and chair heights are set up right at a workstation, the display should be at the same level as the keyboard.
