We put the TV on top of an old cabinet where we keep our modem, Apple TV, and some other things. All of these gadgets are connected to a power strip that is plugged into the wall. The idea is to keep the power strip inside the cabinet instead of letting it hang behind the media console. Holes have been drilled in the back of the cabinet for the cords and for air flow. (Hint: I always turn the modem backwards when I restart it because it’s easier.) We put the router on top so that the internet doesn’t slow down.
The location of your power strip is an important part of how your desk’s cables are set up. The first thing that comes to mind is to plug it into the nearest outlet and start plugging things in. But if your surge protector is set up correctly, it will be much easier to manage your cables.
This is always the best place. By putting your surge protector behind it, you can hide all of your power connections under your desktop, which is one of the best places to hide things.

Most of the time, power wires are neutral, plain colors like white or black. Even if these colors clash with the rest of the room’s decor, this is probably not what bothers you the most about them.
When loose ropes are tied to the shadow of the nearest piece of furniture, they disappear quickly. Attach clear cord clips, like these Command Cord Clips, to the back edges of your furniture to do this. Like the rest of 3M’s renter-friendly products, you have to hold the clips in place for 30 seconds before you can connect one or more cords and have them neatly run down the legs of the console an hour later. If you make a few smart changes to a desk drawer, you might be able to hide a big power strip that is sitting on the floor and is full of cords. Using a power drill and a hole saw bit, drill a hole in the back panel of the desk drawer near a wall outlet. The power strip cable should then be put through the hole, and the power strip should be glued to the same drawer panel on both sides.
